Mucho Amor

Much love goes out to everyone who comes out to all of my trunk shows and various events. I love meeting people who love Mamie Ruth designs! If it wasn't for all of the wonderful folks who support me I wouldn't be able to be living my dream. Each person who owns a Mamie Ruth creation owns a small piece of my heart and those of you good people who own 20 or more...well, you own at least a finger :)
Big thanks to Scott at the Statesboro Herald who photographed my jewelry last night at the shopping by lantern light event downtown Statesboro. Mamie Ruth loveliness graced the front page of the Statesboro Herald this morning. Thanks for the love!!

Mamie Ruth Fashion Show

Mamie Ruth Designs will be featured in a eco-friendly fashion show at White Space Gallery in Atlanta on Dec. 4th. Eco-friendly fabrics and methods of production can make a big difference in the quality of our environment. Mamie Ruth threads are made from an interesting mix of vintage fabrics. This dress is made from two contrasting vintage bed sheets from the seventies that I found at a local thrift shop. Every Mamie Ruth garment is hand made with love and care, not mass produced in a factory overseas. When you support a local designer you are helping someone achieve their dreams. Go green, buy local, or better yet, buy Mamie Ruth!

My apologies, my priorities have been skewed since the runway finale in March. I have been very busy trying to make sense of the manufacturing world. When it comes to designing and producing a one-of-a-kind garment, I am a pro, but unfortunately there is much more to the fashion industry than that. I am in the process of getting my one-of-a-kind garments produced into one-of-a-kind garments that everyone can love and afford. Believe me, I am the thriftiest shopper than you will ever meet, so I know that paying hundreds of dollars for a dress is insanity. My garments are all made from vintage and recycled materials and I am unable to produce any of the garments ever again, which makes them very special. Each garment holds a special place in my heart. So please bare with me, clothing will be available for purchase very soon at a price that everyone can afford!
Hatch Market 2009 was a great success!! I want to give a shout out to Melanie, Jessica, and all the Scoop crew for a job well done. There was tons of great music, a successful fashion show, tons of crafty vendors with amazing goodness to share, giveaways, BBQ, funnel cakes, and much more!! Mamie Ruth Designs was in full force with tons of new jewelry designs, adorable onsies, cute shirts for your pup, and lots of clothes for sale. I will be participating in ICE (Indie Craft Experience) in Atlanta, Georgia May 29th, and 30th, in Centennial Park. There will be even more new bling and fashionable duds for you to check out. Believe me, you don’t want to miss this show. :)

Charleston Fashion Week was AMAZING!! Mad props to all involved!! Everything was gorgeous as well as very professional and well put together. My collection “Patchwork & Posies” came together beautifully and I got a great response from the press as well as from my new fans. The 70’s chic collection was a hit. Check out www.mamieruth.com to purchase my original designs as well as pieces you saw on the runway!! You can check out my video introduction at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5L6QF5TiHM I can’t hide the fact that I am a country girl….obviously, that accent is fierce. Now that fashion week is over you can expect a lot more from Mamie Ruth Designs. I will be posting new blogs frequently so keep checking back to see what's new. I will also be adding clothes as well as all new jewelry to the site. Mamie Ruth Designs….don’t miss the funk.

When I think “designer” I think of a high profile beauty always dressed to the nines in a red pair of Manolo’s . Let me tell you boys and girls….man, was I wrong. Designing is hard work. I haven’t gotten this much wear out of sweats and t-shirts since college. I wake up, brush my teeth, and head out the door to the “sweat shop” and hit the sewing machine. My hair and I are no longer on speaking terms because of the abuse I have put it through. Any designer that can maneuver the sewing machine in a pair of Manolo’s is far more experienced than I. I now know where the term “sweat shop” comes from. Though I have been working my *** off, I love every minute of it. It is incredibly rewarding to create something so unique and beautiful. The day that all my hard work assembles on the runway I will be on cloud nine. If you see me, don’t look to close because you may see a tear in my eye.

Hi, My name is Emily and I am a fashion addict….
If you haven’t heard, seen or spoken to me lately it’s probably because I have been stowed away in my sweat shop working in my one man assembly line. I am working on my Spring 2009 collection for Charleston Fashion Week. My collection is called “Patchwork & Posies”, do not get confused…I will not have a collection of grandma’s quilts marching down the runway. The inspiration behind my line is 70’s music, bright colors, psychedelic patterns, peace signs, tie dye….you get the jest. I am very excited about presenting my collection in Charleston at fashion week. I would love for all who are able to please come and support yours truly. The show is March, 24th and you can get more info at www.charlestonfashionweek.com. Because of the massive amounts of time I have devoted to my collection I haven’t had much time to allocate to my jewelry design. But fear not….after CFW is said and done I will have colossal amounts of jewelry, clothing, accessories, and other goodies at your beck and call. Hooray!
Mamie Ruth….funky, fresh. fashion.
